Future friction
Horizon scanning for UX

workshop strategy

This highly interactive workshop introduces participants to horizon scanning: a strategic foresight technique that helps teams identify signals of change before they become obvious trends.

Through playful yet practical activities, participants will learn how to spot emerging shifts and explore their impact on products, services and user behaviour, practically.

Trend-spotting game: Participants collect or are given “future signals” (articles, headlines, data points). Working in groups, they cluster and interpret what these signals might mean for users.

Scenario building: Groups design a mini-scenario of how their product/service might need to evolve in this future context.

Key outputs:

  • A simple framework you can run with your team next week (no budget, no permission needed)
  • A new way to position yourself in strategic conversations (with language that gets exec attention)
  • Real examples of how spotting trends early changed product decisions
  • Connections with people navigating similar challenges
